Belgium is a small country that you could miss, if you blink.

Belgium is on the way to France, Germany, Holland or anywhere else in Western Europe and you might fly over or pass by this wonderful little country and miss a charming experience.

There is a lot of history here, but you can Google it for yourself. If you don’t get a guide for your trip, either for a day or the whole trip, you will miss the rich culture and explanation of the sites.

Brussels is the capital and home to many international organizations. The main square is surrounded with many old beautiful buildings. I was fascinated at all the statues on top of the buildings, all guilded in shining gold. For years I had heard of the famous statue of Manneken Pis, known as the Oldest Citizen of Brussels. In my mind I had pictured a statue in the town square. As we walked through the winding streets, the guide pointed to a dark corner of a building and there was the very tiny little nude boy – peeing. Over the years people from all over the world have sent him elegant clothes, which are housed in the City Museum – and he still stands naked!!
